The Arts
At Edison Primary, we believe that the arts play a vital role in every child’s education. Through music, art, drama and dance, children develop creativity, confidence and the ability to express ideas in different ways. These experiences also support wider learning by encouraging curiosity, careful observation and collaborative teamwork.
Our arts curriculum is designed to be engaging and age-appropriate, with opportunities for children to explore a range of techniques and respond to inspiring examples from the UK and beyond. Lessons may include hands-on art-making, listening and performing activities, role-play and storytelling, and simple choreography. Children are encouraged to try, refine their work and celebrate progress, helping them build resilience and pride in their achievements.
We also value sharing learning with families. Children may bring home examples of their work, and we aim to provide opportunities for parents to see performances and exhibitions throughout the year. Your support—such as encouraging discussion about what your child has made or performed—helps to strengthen learning and makes the arts an enjoyable part of school life.
