Home Learning

We know that supporting learning at home can feel both rewarding and challenging, so our aim is to make it clear, manageable, and closely aligned with what children experience in school. These activities are designed for primary-aged pupils and can be completed in short, regular sessions that fit around family routines.

Home learning should be purposeful rather than time-consuming.

We recommend:

• choosing a small set of tasks each week,
• focusing on core skills such as reading, writing, spelling, and number work, encouraging your child to explain their thinking,
• practising independence and
• celebrating effort.

If your child finds something difficult, it is helpful to break tasks into smaller steps and revisit them with calm support.

To get the most from home learning, consistency matters more than intensity.

Aim for a routine that works for your family, for example reading together several times a week, practising key words, and completing brief maths activities.

Class teachers check completion of home-learning on a regular basis. They allocate time during the school week to mark and assess home-learning with our pupils, using this as an opportunity to address any misconceptions or gaps in learning.
