PE & Sports Premium

The PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to make lasting improvements to physical education, school sport and physical activity.

At Edison Primary School we use it to strengthen the quality of PE teaching through staff training and specialist support, to widen the range of sports and active clubs on offer, and to make sure every child — whatever their starting point or confidence level — takes part in regular, high-quality physical activity.

We also use the funding to increase opportunities for competitive sport and to support our swimming provision. Each year we publish a statement showing how the funding has been spent and the difference it has made to our pupils, including how many of our Year 6 children can swim 25 metres competently, use a range of strokes effectively, and perform safe self-rescue in the water.
