Computer Science and Design Technology
At Edison Primary, we believe that Computer Science and Design Technology help children build essential skills for the future. Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, pupils learn how computers work, how to give clear instructions, and how to solve problems step by step. These experiences also support confidence, creativity, and teamwork as children explore new ideas and share their thinking.
Our curriculum encourages children to design, make, and evaluate practical solutions, linking technology with real-life needs. Pupils may investigate everyday products, learn basic digital skills, and use simple tools and materials to create models or prototypes. They are taught to test their ideas, learn from what works and what does not, and improve their work, developing resilience and a strong sense of achievement.
We also focus on safe and responsible use of technology. Children learn about digital wellbeing, online safety, and how to handle information carefully and respectfully. By combining practical making, thoughtful design, and fundamental computing concepts, Edison Primary helps children become capable users of technology and confident thinkers who are ready for the next stage of their education.
