School Meals
At Edison Primary, we want every child to have access to nutritious, balanced meals that support learning and wellbeing. Our school meals are designed to provide the right mix of energy, protein, vitamins and minerals, helping pupils stay focused throughout the day. We also take account of dietary needs and preferences, so families can feel confident their children are eating well at school.
Wilson Jones (our catering providers) are contracted to deliver our healthy and nutritious school meals. All primary school age pupils are given a free school meal, as funded by the government.

School lunch options typically include a main meal with vegetables and suitable accompaniments, along with choices that cater for a range of tastes. Water is available with meals, and we encourage children to develop healthy eating habits over time. If your child has allergies, intolerances, or a medical or religious dietary requirement, please speak to the school so we can work with you to ensure appropriate options are available and safely prepared.
Parents should book school lunches with their child and bookings should be completed in advance. Where a parent has not booked a lunch option, your child will be provided with the vegetarian meal as the default option.
Packed lunches are provided by Wilson Jones when pupils attend school trips.
In the bid to support our families and children with significant food allergies, parents should liaise with the school and provide relevant details to ensure a healthy and safe lunch time for their child.
From September 2026, free school meals are available to every child whose family receives Universal Credit. This is a welcome change and means many more of our families will qualify.
If you would like to discuss your child’s individual needs, our team will be happy to guide you through the next steps.
