Attendance
At Edison Primary School we believe that excellent attendance is the foundation of a successful education.
Children who attend school regularly build stronger friendships, settle more confidently into routines and make faster progress in their learning, because every day missed is a day of teaching that is difficult to recover.
We ask families to aim for attendance of at least 97%, to arrive on time and ready to learn, and to book holidays outside of term time wherever possible.
We know that illness and unexpected difficulties do sometimes arise, and we would much rather hear from you early than not at all — if anything is making it hard for your child to attend, please contact the school office via info@edisonprimary.org or on 020 8873 3337 so that we can work together to put the right support in place.

Please note that headteachers may only grant leave of absence in term time in exceptional circumstances.
Family holidays are not considered exceptional, and any request must be made in advance in writing using our leave of absence form.
Unauthorised absence may result in a penalty notice being issued by the London Borough of Hounslow.
Punctuality Matters
Being on time matters just as much as being in school.
The school day begins promptly, and the first few minutes are when children settle with their class, hear the plan for the day and begin their first piece of learning.
A child who arrives ten minutes late each day misses well over thirty hours of teaching across the school year — but just as importantly, arriving late can leave a child feeling flustered and singled out at the start of the day, rather than calm and ready.
Please help your child by getting them to the gate a few minutes before the doors open. If mornings are a struggle for any reason, do talk to us; we can often suggest something practical that makes the routine easier.
