Stitching Cushions in Year 1

Year 1 have been making cushions in their DT lessons. The children designed their own cushions and then carefully made them using different materials and techniques. We learned how to sew using running stitch and over stitch. At first, this was quite tricky, but we persevered and improved our sewing skills with practice.

Once our cushions were sewn together, we decorated them by adding a range of materials such as buttons, sequins and gems. Everyone worked very hard and showed great creativity when designing and making their cushions. We are very proud of the finished products and enjoyed learning new skills during this exciting DT project.
